In – The Nude

It’s time for another confession…

…when I was trying to sort out what to wear to the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, I had a good hard look over the previous collections of some of the designers that we would be seeing and tried to pull together with a similar vibe. I was glad that I did because there was plenty of nudes to be seen on the runway. And before your mind wanders, I am talking about colour. Or kind of lack of colour if you prefer.

Nude, naturals or neutrals, whatever you choose to call it, it’s still in and is still a great look for women of any age. There was certainly plenty of it on the runway this year. Wherever I looked there was something nude going on that could work for any part of my lifestyle from work to fun.

In particular, there was a dress from Kirrily Johnston that is on my must have list if it’s still available at the end of my 90 days in the wilderness. It’s one of the dresses that can be worn a many different ways, dressed up or down for any occasion. Which of course means it’s a bargain because it’ll get lots of wear doing double duty in the wardrobe! See, I can justify just about anything when it comes to spending on clothes!

Part of what I do love the most about the nude trend is that there is a shade that works for everyone. After all, we were all born with our own shade of nude! And it is versatile in that it can be played with and any look can be created from it. Nude works really well when you are going for  sexy and sophisticated. It can be fun and fresh if you layer different shades and textures. Best of all, if you have a good selection of nude pieces in the wardrobe, those days when you’re in a hurry or can’t be bothered to think about what to wear are made so much easier by keeping it simple and going nude!
