I’m still thinking about all the amazing clothes I saw on the runway last night at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF). I could have floated on the fashion cloud 9 all day, dreaming of all the items that have been added to my wish list. In fact, everything was so spectacular that I would think it had been a dream if the fashion sister, Lee-Anne, and I hadn’t of had the debrief today!
I had worked the night before and as I finished work at 8 am, I only had a few hours sleep before it was time to get moving and get ready for the drive to Melbourne. That may have been a good thing, because I didn’t stress too much about what I was going to wear, I just went with the plan. Kept it simple and comfortable. The taupe dress/top, black skinny jeans and a snake-skin print wedge. Originally, I was going to do the nude and black spiked heels but was concerned with how long I may be on my feet so went with the comfort of the heels. Threw everything in the Mulberry bag, grabbed the black leather bomber jacket and off we went.
The fashion sister and I stopped for a bite and a sparkling at the Mecca Bar, then headed over to the Woolshed Pub to have a cocktail with the beautiful people…and let me tell you, there were plenty of beautiful people, rocking beautiful clothes! On our way out, we passed Macho from Project Runway Australia! I kept thinking of Megan Gale scolding him for wanting to make her a maroon dress, inferring that he didn’t know what was going to be big next season. Can I tell you how much maroon was on the catwalk last night and seriously is it all over the fashion mags?! Macho, you were right!
We were really excited to be seated in the second row (which meant we scored one of the great orange leather/ette gift bags from L-Oreal). By far the best “show-bag” I have seen in ages. I’ll be using that bag till the day I wear it out.
The first item on my must have list is a brown and white patterned dress from LIFE withBIRD. It’s available for $399 on their website now and I am praying to the fashion goddess that it is still available at the end of my 90 days in the wilderness. May this also be a hint to the fashion mister that if he is wondering what to get me for my birthday…
Second on the wish list would have to be the teal, black and white patchwork leather shift dress from Flannel. Can I just say, Oh My Freaking Goddess! That was leather and vintage perfection!
The Faux fur from Lisa Ho was luxe – done deluxe! If you were wearing some of that, you’d feel a million. It truly made me want to be sitting in front of a big window with a hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps while it snowed like mad outside.
The Crystal Wrap Dress from Kirrily Johnstone would also be high on the list. Fantastic for office or weekend.
As for the models, gorgeous, tall and skinny beyond belief! How freaking tall is Alice Bourdeaux? Talk about glamazon!
Lee-Anne and I absolutely HAD to walk the runway on the way out and we passed Kirrily having her photo taken. She is the tiniest, cutest little thing! If she didn’t design such amazing clothing I would hate her. Would have been great to see her next to Alice, especially with Alice wearing a pair of the wedges she was working during the shows.
Next year, I’m taking the week off work and spending it in Melbourne just living and breathing gorgeousness!
If only everyday could be that wonderful.
