Go Nude All Over

It’s time to raid the wardrobe/closet and see what we can find that works with the trend to go nude. I admit that when the trend first went head-to-toe, I wasn’t the biggest fan. Probably because as a taller, but not stick thin  woman I was concerned about this light coloured blob moving about my day! Completely irrational I know, but then I come from the generation that was taught head-to-toe black was a good thing because it made you look slimmer! So I can be forgiven for my misgivings!

I actually have come to really appreciate the class and sophistication that comes with all-over nude. There is a fair bit of nuance in seeing a beautifully tailored nude look that embraces several different textures. In fact, on our last trip to Hong Kong one of the must things I had to do while there was have a nude suit tailor-made. And it had to be one that could do double duty for work or out. Worn with this vintage Cue corsette style shirt it is VERY sexy!

You’ll see the cream-coloured Ralph Lauren linen shorts can do double duty too, work or weekend. If I was a cute, young thing, I’d probably even dress them up and wear them out at night. But when you get to a certain age, showing off your knees can be a dead giveaway to old you really are! However with tights, it’s a great look that can be both professional and a little carefree. I love that in both looks I was able to mix not just textures but price points!

I adore these Halston Vintage pants. They have a beautiful fit and are high-waisted. Another trend I am glad to see come back! When I first wore high-waisted pants in the 80s, it was great for me because I am a bit of an hour-glass shape, so the high waist showed off the skinniest part of my shape and gave me great curves. This second time around, it does the same thing with the added benefit that I don’t have to worry about the middle-aged tummy becoming a muffin-top over hip-huggers!

I would encourage everyone to embrace this trend. It is filled with juxtaposition, naughty and nice, sexy and sophisticated, work and play, all of which is what our lives as women are all about!
