So yesterday I shared with you a number of items you could add to your wardrobe to work the perfect paisley print. Today I am going to share with you how I have worked it into my wardrobe.
Pretty Paisley – Weekender – I had the Fashion Mister take this pic back when I first started this blog. Unfortunately, it has taken me 3 months to get around to actually looking at the Paisley Print Trend! Anyway, I had purchased this paisley print top for $5 off the sale rack at Wal-Mart when I was in the US back in February. I loved the colours and the cut is really good for my figure, plus as it is made from t-shirt material, it is extremely comfortable! For this work look I have paired it with my pale turquoise Ralph Lauren linen pants (bought from the outlet store), a black shrug purchased at Target and a pair of black, open-toed wedges. I also wore my purple jade necklace and bangles and a pair of purple and green jade earrings that I bought in Hong Kong on our trip last October.
You know that I love mixing my more expensive designer pieces with my super bargains and I think that this look proves it can be done successfully.
Paisley Print-cess – That is probably as close as I’ll ever come to a princess so I am going with it! This look is based around the blue and yellow paisley tunic. It’s another discount buy from the February trip to the US. I can’t remember if I bought it at TJ Maxx or Ross but I’m pretty sure I spent less than $10 for it. I have styled it using a pair of Capri length grey leggings, black belt, silver jewelry, a pair of silver-grey beaded mules that I have had for nearly 10 years and my little silver leather clutch that I have had for over 10 years. Funny thing about this outfit is that the two most expensive items are the silver earrings and silver clutch ($75 and $70). Everything else combined cost less than $75 combined! Overall this is totally a bargain look, but it is nice enough to wear out on a date with the Fashion Mister or a double-date with friends.
Perfect Paisley – Working It! – I have had this grey and pink paisley print shirt for about 4 years and if I remember correctly it was from Target. I’m pretty sure you have seen it in the Gypsy Chic series. I have worked this paisley into a business look by styling it with a black wool pencil skirt (tailor-made in Hong Kong) and a grey vest purchased a few years ago from Target. You also see I have matched up my fantastic 40s style shoes, a cute little clutch and a bit of silver, purple and pink jewelry. Besides the beautiful colour combination what I love about this shirt would be the cuffs and the ruffled collar.
How could you not love the three little buttons and the exaggerated ruffle cuff?! So girly, pirate and gypsy all in one!
I do really love this shirt. In fact it is a couple of sizes too big for me which is why I now only wear it with the vest. by putting the fitted vest on, it camouflage the fact that the shirt would otherwise hang like a sack. Plus there is something rather cool about mixing the feminine shirt with the masculine vest.
These three items are the only pieces of the perfect paisley print that I own. However, I am not opposed to adding more!
Would you have styled any of these differently? I’m always open to suggestions.

Every time I am in the US I have to stop there! Especially because I can find great stuff, really cheap and not everyone in Australia is wearing it!
Sounds like you are teaching them properly. 🙂

Thank you Leslie. 🙂
Paisley seems to be growning on me. I love the fact that it is really versatile when it comes to adding accessories. Plus there are just so many fantastic options!

LovIng all of these outfits! That blue & yellow tunic is great and I’m loving the little clutch you chose for the work outfit. 🙂 Excellent ideas!

Thanks Janice!
I wear that tunic top way more than I thought I might when I bought it.
It’s the yellow that always makes me nervous as I don’t really wear yellow.

Thanks 🙂
I think it’s a great print that is a little floral in spirit without being too girlie.
Good for a girl who lives in the country but chic enough for a trip to the city!

Paisley is really not my think unless it’s a scarf. I don’t know why, but I just don’t really like it. LOL!

I can understand Christel,
I didn’t like it much when I was younger.
Thought it was an “old lady” print.
Guess now that I am an old lady, I like it!
