“Blue”berry Inspiration – Fashion vs. Home

Are you interested in a little fashion versus home “blue”berry inspiration?

I have to credit my friend Sarah for inspiring this concept. You may remember her from the Remodeling Sarah series. Sarah was really good at designing and decoration for the home but struggled when it came to her wardrobe. So we spent a bit of time relating the two. As you know from the series, she has figured it out! But a little seed started growing in my brain about how best to express that concept. Not to mention the fun for me in finding fashion and home decorating examples to compare the two.

At the start of the month we looked at the “Blue”berry palette for inspiration in food vs. fashion. Using that same palette, let’s have a look at fashion vs. home.

You can see the same “blue”berry palette working through all these photos. It doesn’t matter if you think you only have talent with decorating or you’re just good at putting together a fashionable look. If you use what you are good at as a foundation for creating the other!

I love this “blue”berry inspired bedroom. I find it romantic, chic and a little old-world. It’s the layers of colours and the textures that attract me to it. The same apply to the two fashion photos. The top right one is layered colours and a mix of textures with the flowing dress and wool jacket. To me the bedroom and the top right photo are a perfect complement to each other. The bottom right photo is more about mixing the colours and using the more neutral shades to balance out the brighter blue. That same influence is seen in the bedroom where there is a neutral wall, floor and linens with the brightness coming from the headboard, a throw blanket and one pillow.

In this next comparison both looks are cleaner, brighter, and fresher. The bright blue shirt in the fashion look is still toned down by the darker skirt, the neutral scarf and to some degree…the extreme “tan” of the girls legs. In the home photo – bright blue wall, slightly darker curtains, neutral art, carpet and dresser/desk. Plus a little bit of that “tan” colour in the duvet.

Again these two photos are a nice representation of the “blue”berry colour palette as viewed through the fashionista and home decorators eye. As well as, a good way to see how you can take a medium that you are comfortable with and apply similar principles to an area of your lifestyle that you may not have as much experience with and still have fantastic outcomes. That way you can be fabulous in all areas of your life!

Tomorrow, just for fun, we will continue on the “blue”berry palette with a little fun look at fashion vs. food.

Hope you enjoyed this Fashion vs. Home “blue”berry inspiration.
