10 Wardbrobe Essentials – The Looks

Okay, so yesterday I was all Bossy Madame Know-it-all and gave you my list of 10 Wardrobe Essentials. I know everyone has a different style and there are plenty who would have chosen a different 10 (11 if we count the bonus). So today I have used my wardrobe essentials to create 5 looks to help me show you why I think they are essential.

Rock Chic, Night Out, Dinner Date – The first look I put together  can be worn so many places. You don’t even need to have attitude because the leather jacket provide that for you!

As you know, I really like to mix the vibe of a look and in this case I have used the lovely black chiffon dress (feminine) and added the black leather jacket (masculine) to create a great look that I would gladly wear for a night out or any number of other occasions.

I have used four items from the 10 essential – well, three and the bonus item if I have to be honest – the LBD, black handbag and black Prada heels, plus the leather jacket. Then I added the wide silver cuff bracelet from my Lust Have List and a group of random necklaces in silver, crystals and silver faux pearls..

I have worn variations on this look just about everywhere and always feel comfortable and confident, which makes it a perfect look to me!

Business Casual, Weekend Chic – The next look is made up of 6 items from the wardrobe essentials list and could work easily as well with the white button-down shirt or the black pants.

I wanted a chic weekend look, so I put together the J Brand jeans, simple white t-shirt, the jacket from the nude coloured suit, the black belt, black shoes and the black handbag.

All I have added in here is a chain necklace. I was wearing my large white watch and forgot to take it off for the photo but I would definitely be wearing it with this look.

Again this look is versatile enough in where it is appropriate to wear that you can get a lot of use from working these items together. I’m thinking business casual, weekend away, and goodness knows you see plenty of these types of look in street style photos, including those for fashion shows! So it’s got to be a great versatile look!

Business Chic, Drinks with the Girls – This time I have used another six items to create this look. The pencil skirt, simple white t-shirt, black leather jacket, black belt, black handbag and black shoes. But you could easily swap out the white t-shirt for the white button-down shirt or the leather jacket for the suit jacket if you needed/wanted to have a slightly more polished/professional look.

The only extra here is the chain necklace and again I would have my big white watch on but a man-style watch in white and yellow or rose gold would look great too.

I would think this is a work appropriate look. It would also work for drinks after work, a neat casual event, dinner with friends or date night.

Simple Classics, Work Look, Neat Casual Probably the most basic and straightforward of the looks but equally one of the most versatile. There aren’t many places these five items wouldn’t work!

I have used the wide-legged black Ralph Lauren pants, the Prada shoes, the white Country Road button-down and the black belt and handbag. This chic look is finished off with he silver cuff and a silver “hoops” necklace. Simple, classic chic and easy.

Stylish Business – To me, these six pieces create the most classic yet stylish business look that has just enough personality that you could wear it to a business meeting and then out for drinks after. In fact, for me it is perfect for conference wear because I can present in this look and then wear it out to dinner and drinks after, without even having to change jewelry.

This look is made up of the nude coloured suit jacket and pants, the white t-shirt (but the button-down would work if you needed to be more professional), the black belt, black handbag and black shoes, with the same chain necklace seen in a couple other looks.

Once you start mixing and matching these looks there are quite a few different looks that are possible.

Hopefully these looks have given you some idea of why I picked these 10 Wardrobe Essentials to share with you.
