4 Looks That Won’t Go Out of Style

The weather is starting to change. Which makes me think about seasonal shopping and how to update my wardrobe, but I want to invest in looks that won’t go out of style.

So I have pulled together 4 Looks I love that will last the change of season and not go out of style.

The Printed Dress:

Keys to keeping this look working throughout the seasons – Keep the silhouette simple. You can go as wild and distinctive as you want with the print but a simple silhouette will let you work it with so many options. Think of a well-fitting shift dress or the figure flattering wrap dress. You can either wear shoes that pick up a colour in the dress or in these days of colour blocking and print clashing you can wear just about anything! Just make sure to keep your jewelry minimal so the print can do the talking.

The Pencil Skirt:

Key to working this classic throughout the seasons – choose a classic neutral colour with a modern cut, like this one from Burberry Resort 2013. In the warmer months wear it with a lace shirt and in the cooler months it can be worn with jumpers/sweater, cardigans and blazers for a layered, stylish and warm look. This is when you need a fantastic belt, so make sure you have updated your wardrobe with a couple great belts in different colours and widths. I have pencil skirts that range in length from just above the knee, to at the knee and even just below. Find the right length for you and you will be wearing the pencil skirt forever!

The Coloured Pants:

Keys to getting this look to last the distance – go for a tailored fit and wear it with big, bold extras! I love this pair from Mulberry A/W 2012. Think about working the coloured pants with a floral print top or blazer, contrast, clash and colour block your top. Pick shoes and accessories with a lot of personality to stand up to the colour of the pants. Whichever colour you choose just make sure they fit you divinely and you will feel amazing every time you put them on. The more tailored the pants, the more I like to go feminine with the top and or accessories. This is a good time to play with the masculine vs. feminine vibe.

The Smile:

The key to having this look work for you – make sure it’s genuine! Okay, I know it’s corny but I couldn’t resist! You should know by now that I can only be serious for so long.

As the daylight hours begin stretching out here and the weather slowly begins to warm…there will be a lot more of this look on my face. Bring on the blue skies!!

Well there you have it. My 4 looks that won’t go out of style. If you are looking to invest in your wardrobe as the seasons prepare to change, this is where my money would be. I would recommend looking for timeless cuts with “of-the-moment” details. If you do that, they will pair well with other pieces in your wardrobe and feel fresh for seasons to come.

What do you think? Are these the pieces you would have chosen? If you have these in your wardrobe, how will you wear them in the new season?
