We’ve wiggled our toes, looked at open toe shoes, worn socks with our open to shoes and now we are going to look at some socks to wear with our open toe shoes!
As I have been looking at this trend and seeing how it might work for me, I have realised I have a few pair of really nice textured tights/stockings and a few pair of socks that would look good with this trend but if I am going to fully embrace this socks with open toe shoes trend I am going to need more!
So I have been on the hunt and want to share with you some of what I have found. You can find socks anywhere and everywhere and will probably have a million suggestions on where to get the best ones at the best prices…if so, please share! What I have done is put together online stores that have a few items I like and thought I would share them with you.
Hello! Is anyone else thinking Prada here?! for $25 AUD you can get this printed tight that is
very VERY similar to the recent prints sent down the Prada runway. Just click on the photo or go to TheIconic.com.au to check out all the great tights.
This pair is also from TheIconic.com.au and I love the retro 70s print, the bright colours and the image of a little black dress and black open toe shoes worn with these tights. Or maybe a bright mod-style dress or pencil skirt worn with bright open toe heels that are in one of the colours from the tights! That would be daring!
Still on the tights front are this pair from Tightology. Things I love about this company and these tights: the colour – mint, one of the colours to be wearing for Spring in the Southern Hemisphere, the subtle pattern/texture, it’s an Australian company, they use organic cotton, bamboo and merino wool. This pair happens to be 70% bamboo and come in several colours. Currently they are on sale for $25.
This Dita ankle sock is also from Tightology, made of 70% organic cotton and comes in several colours. The subtle stripe of the sock would look great with a pencil skirt and blazer for work. A play on the pin-stripe look so loved in the business world. Price $15 AUD.
Last pair from Tightology, come in this coral and a pale blue, and are made of 70% merino wool, price $19 AUD. This is definitely a more girlie sock in its style and would look great with spring dresses and shorts. Because they are a little longer, I would recommend pushing them down a bit to give them a relaxed, bunched up look at the ankle. How cute would these look with a pair of floral print open toe shoes?
The next group of socks all come from K. Bell Socks. They had a great selection at a very reasonable prices.
The crochet anklet is currently on sale for $5 USD, unfortunately they don’t ship international so you need a friend or family member in the US who can forward them on to you. I like these socks styled just as they are in the photo where they are paired with a heavier open toe shoe. It provides a nice balance to the look.
The Diamond Texture Ankle Skimmer, currently on sale for $6.30 in an assortment of colours. provides a subtle texture and very neutral colours if you are looking for a way to ease yourself into the socks and open toe shoes trend.
If you are a little more daring, how about this pair of Leopard Texture? These would look great with either an all black look or a neutral/nude look, including shoes. I could see myself wearing these with my nude suit and nude and black patent leather open toe shoes. The socks would provide just enough interest to keep the look from being too bland.
If you are really prepared to take on the brights this spring and summer then these Basic Ankle Skimmers are going to add some great colour blocking options to your open toe shoes!
Any of these you particularly like? Have any suggestions on where to find great socks to wear with the open toe shoes?
Or are you going to sit this one out?
