Spring 2012 has come to the Southern Hemisphere. Spring equals flowers, flowers equals bees and bees mean honey!
If you follow my convoluted train of thought we end up being inspired by honey. For me, honey inspiration crosses over from food, to fashion and even into home decor. You’ll recall over the past couple of months I have used a food or color as inspiration and shown the connection across all three lifestyle interests. And I am at again!
The sweet sticky deliciousness of honey can be affected by the type of flower or flowers that the bees have access to. Here in the Southern Hemisphere and particularly in Australia and New Zealand the bees have plenty of access to Melaleuca and in some areas Lavender. If you haven’t tried Melaleuca Honey, you should, it is amazing! When I was studying nursing there had been number of researchers studying the healing properties of honey and they found that the Melaleuca Honey was very beneficial for wound healing.
Over the next few days I’m hoping to share with you some inspiration I have found while thinking about honey and its many shades.
I think those of you in the Northern Hemisphere might like this colour inspiration because these are classic Autumnal colours and will be seen more and more over the coming months as your weather cools. These warm toasty shades are perfect for those cool days and chilly nights.
Here is a taste of Honey Inspiration for you. We’ll look at all of these and more in greater detail over the next few days in part as a celebration of Spring 2012 and also to help you in the North stay warm and toasty.
Hope you enjoy!

I love these colours and they are typically autumnal colours so perfect for you all in the North!
Even if I wear them year round. 🙂
I just need to be reminded that it is okay and possible to wear them in Spring as much as Autumn. 🙂

Great post and thanks for reminding me that not every part of the world share the same season! 😉

It can be weird sometimes to be in opposite seasons…mostly at Christmas!
However, I am finding it kind of interesting and a chaleenge for me to include things sometimes that are appropriate for both ends of the planet. 🙂

I really like this palette. I just bought a jacket in that “pumpkin” color and it suits me much better than tangerine tango LOL. You’ve gotten into my head, you know. Every time I see an orange garment I think of you!

LOL!
That’s probably because you know how obsessed I a with the colour!
And I suppose you could think of worse things. 😉
Now I am looking forward to seeing how you style your jacket.
Cheers,
Laura

These are some of my favourite colours! They are so perfect for Autumn that I have to use a bit of imagination to work them into a spring/summer wardrobe but I usually find a way. 🙂

Thank you Sarah,
I’m pretty fond of honey too!
On ice cream, in baklava as honeycomb…
I could go on and on!
And then get to the colours and how I love it for clothes! 🙂

The colour of honey is such a rich and inviting shade…it’s amber hue is reminiscent of the colour sepia which is used in antiquing photography. Great post xo!

Thanks!
I love the richness of the colour.
I suppose honey anything is always a littler sweeter. 🙂

You’re right. There is a perfume by Estee Lauder called Aromatic Elyxir…it’s a honey coloured perfume in a clear bottle, so pretty :))

I’ll have to check it out next time I’m wandering through a department store!
See if it smells as nice as it looks. 🙂

Love your honey inspiration post! Makes me want to redecorate the house and go out and buy a whole new fall wardrobe!! Thanks for the link to my blog!

It certainly is a great colour palette!
I’m a huge fan of orange so the burnt orange is a colour I work with in my wardrobe a fair bit.
It’s also been sneaking into my home in the way of pillows and accent colours.
My pleasure to link to your great honey post! 🙂

There is something about honey that feels warm and inviting. I love the color, the flavor and the fact that it comes from bees. I wish I could wear that color range, but alas, it just does nothing for my pale complexion and reddish hair. Nice post!

Thanks Alyce!
I too love honey.
You could add it to anything, say there is honey in it and I will be thinking about how nice it must be…well…almost anything. 🙂
I’m lucky that although I have pale skin and eyes my hair is dark so for as long as I can remember the Autumnal colours have been my go to colours.
I’ve never really gotten into the yellow side but oranges and browns seem to be what I live in!
Cheers,
Laura
