Tips on How to Wear a Denim Jacket for Fall

Fall is one of the best seasons to have fun with mixing and matching clothes! Moreover, the fashion industry has produced a lot of different kinds of denim jackets with a great variety of shades. There are so many ways on how to sport a look with a denim jacket this fall that it can get confusing. However, here are some tips and tricks to help you look your best so as to gain more personal self-confidence.

Denim Jacket with a Lace Dress

Tip 1: Cropped Denim Jacket with a Laced Dress!

Ladies nowadays find lace dresses very appealing. It is the perfect mix of sexy yet old-fashioned. It also has the perfect mix of sweet and sassy. Lace dresses are either puffy or just straight. No matter what cut of lace dress, pairing it with a cropped denim jacket works great.

The shade of the denim jacket should depend on the dress. The best combination is a light-colored lace dress (white, dirty white and cream) and a light shaded denim jacket. If the dress is puffy, then closing the denim jacket will work. However, if the dress is not puffy, then just leave it open and casual.

Tip 2: Over-Dyed Denim Jacket with a Belt

Imagine your favorite coat be it long or short, with a belt, but this time, in your favorite shade of denim. This works especially well if the type of denim used is over-dyed. The belt, of course, should be of the same shade, not unless you want to match the color with your jeans or jeggings.

People who have to go to work at their office can opt for these kinds of denim jackets as a topper to formal or casual wear. This is because you don’t want to wear denim over denim and casual and formal wear are usually made of cotton. Don’t forget to top the entire outfit off with sexy heels though.

Tip 3: Denim Jackets with Accents

Denim jackets are usually simple jackets with just buttons or a zipper. However, over the past few years, many fashion experts have tried adding accents to it to make it more interesting and fashionable. One perfect example is the biker’s denim jacket in dark shaded denim with a large corsage. It works very well in any day-to-day fall outfit with skinny jeans, a plain tee and boots or pumps. This outfit has a very relaxed and laid back look – exactly what fall is all about! It’s just perfect to throw on when going out for some coffee in the afternoon.

Tip 4: Wear a Scarf on Top!

If you don’t feel like placing accents on your denim jackets, you can just accessorize it with scarves. Be very colorful and creative with how you do this. Choose a scarf that will really stand out. One type of scarf that you should consider for this kind of look is the infinity scarf. It often fits very well – not too big or not too small. Try shades of mustard, auburn, grey, or black to match the fall trends of this season.

Denim Jacket with a Hoodie

Tip 5: Denim jacket over a Hooded Dress or Top

You’ve probably seen this in many paparazzi photos of famous Hollywood actors and actresses. For the ladies, you could wear hoodie dresses. These dresses are usually plainly designed but come in vibrant colors. Wearing a denim jacket over them will neutralize the look, making it not too young and not too old. Just place the hood itself above the denim jacket. For the men, use university hoodies or regular thick pullover. Make sure that both hoodie dresses and jackets are closed though.

Tip 6: Denim Jacket over Checkered Prints

Checkered prints are so in! Justin Timberlake has sported this look many times already with a fedora hat. Checkered tops work great with denim jackets to give it a country, laid back look! Adding a hat to it makes it even more country. You can use a fedora hat just like the sexy and fashion-forward J.T., or if you want another unique approach, you can even use a truck driver’s hat! Throw on your favorite pair of shades as well. Aviator shades work well for this outfit. This look works well for both men and women. But for women, you can opt to wear your favorite vintage shades if you’d rather not wear aviators.

Denim jackets have been around for a long time and will be around for even longer in the fashion industry. Knowing how to mix and match it to outfits is absolutely essential!
