Sometimes it can be hard to dress for Spring when you live this far south of the equator! Often times it seems to be a bit of a chain reaction. Especially this year as the weather has been grey and wet so many days. Don’t get me wrong, there have been a few beautiful days. It’s just that at this time of year most fantastic days are followed by a couple of chilly ones. So the winter wardrobe has not been fully sent to the back of the walk-in.
Chain Reaction: It is Spring in the Southern Hemisphere but this was a chilly day so I needed to dress a little more on the warm side. I really like this “chain link” skirt from BooHoo.com. As a pencil skirt it is a classic and the chain print is very trendy but the colours keep it from being too extreme. Which means I can wear it to work. Because the weather is still on the cool side and the skirt is so form-fitting, I opted to this loose-fitting taupe and black colour block sweater. I have pinned one of my grandmothers vintage Trafalgar brooches, in gold and pearl, to the wrap collar, gone with my ever faithful tri-colour vintage look shoes and added a smart and modern little white and taupe trimmed clutch to finish the look.
Chain, chain, chain: No smiles today. It’s too cold and I haven’t had a coffee!
Dressing for spring can be tricky. The chain reaction of weather often means dressing in layers or finding yourself in Spring-like clothes one day and winter gear the next. A girl has to be flexible, which is why I keep my light-weight sweaters and cardigans at hand until summer sets in!
