As we close out the first month of 2013, I am wondering what trend you are most looking forward to in 2013? What is going to make it into your wardrobe this year and what doesn’t stand a chance? Is there a trend of 2012 that you just don’t want to say goodbye to?
Here are a few of the trends for 2013 that I love.
Ladylike: I’m loving ladylike floral dress. They aren’t just for ladies who lunch but are perfect for work or any time you want to flaunt your feminine side.
Bold Stripes: I’m really loving all things Marc Jacobs right now thanks to his collections heavy focus on big, bold stripes! Don’t know if I could go an entire suit in a bold stripe but I’m loving the skirts and dresses. I already have a fair few tops with bold stripes from last autumn and they will make an even bigger splash this autumn.
Luxe Leather: Buttery soft and beautifully tailored, I have always loved leather and suede so I am thrilled that it is making a big comeback in a luxurious way!
Low Heels: Considering how many pairs of really high heels I own, this one may be a surprise. But if you really know me then you know I just love gorgeous shoes and if low heels are in and I can find some amazing ones, they will definitely find their way into my wardrobe in 2013.
The trend I’m NOT looking forward to? I shared with you last month in I don’t want to go green.
What trends are you most looking forward to in 2013?
How are you planning on working them?
What trend is your least favourite?

I think I am going to become a little obsessed with florals! I’m alrady stocking up!
January 30th, 2013 at 08:06
Me too Megan!
Considering I never thought of myself as a girlie-girl I am surprised how much floral and pink are in my wardrobe right now! 🙂
Will you be doing the floral clash/mix?
Cheers,
Laura

Love all the stripes out there….. Not sure yet how I ll translate them into my wardrobe….. Would love a bold vertical stripe a-line skirt like Marni did a few seasons ago….. Any ideas???
January 30th, 2013 at 08:08
I’m really loving the vertical stripes of Marc Jacobs this year.
There are a couple of skirts and dresses that I would donate a kidney for!
I also think a full skirted dress in a bold vertical stripe would be amazing.

I’m dying for ladylike floral dresses! The stripes and leather I don’t think I could bring myself to wear, but somehow those dresses are what I imagine one must wear to Paris in the warm weather… Guess I’d better start shopping for our mother/daughter trip this summer!
January 30th, 2013 at 08:09
Make sure you get yourself one or two beautiful florals for the trip.
But don’t over pack! You’ll want to buy while you’re there too.:)

I think it becomes luxe leather because you can mix it in many ways, love how it fits on my skin and there is so in many variety !
January 30th, 2013 at 08:10
I fell in love with a leather dress last year and didn’t buy it.
If I find one this year that I like, I’m buying it for certain!

I’d like to add a couple of leather pieces; they’re so versatile, especially if you live in a climate with seasons.
Just realized reading your post that I’ve already bought an emerald blouse in January! It slipped my mind that it’s the “color of the year.”
January 30th, 2013 at 08:12
You will have to do a post about it!
Bet with your colouring you look fantastic in Emerald.
I agree about layering with leather…absolutely a must have.

I’m looking forward to florals too- can’t wait for Spring!
January 30th, 2013 at 08:14
I recently added a floral dress and floral skirt to my wardrobe.
So I’m thinking I’ll be very into the florals this year too. 🙂
Even though we will be heading into autumn.

I need something in emerald green myself.
January 30th, 2013 at 08:15
The emerald I like…is always found in jewelry. 🙂

The Fashion Mister would kill me if I started collecting low heels too!
There would be no more room in the walk-in. 🙂

Leather, green, and low heels (hallelujah!).
You would be proud of me. Your love of florals inspired me to buy some floral and lace oxfords, and I already own some floral fabric Mary Janes.. Baby steps 😉

Alicia,
I thought you might like the trend to low heels. 🙂
And all good fashionistas must have some leather!
I bet your new oxfords are adorable! Looking forward to seeing how you style them.

Amazeballs. (Yes I said it!)
Those first three dresses are just too good. Now, must find some way to incorporate leather and emerald into the old wardrobe…
January 30th, 2013 at 08:23
Misses,
I’m totally gone for pretty florals!
Can’t figure out where this girlie streak came from?
Leather is easy…jackets are a good way or a leather and faux fur vest maybe. Of course, I am really wanting a leather dress.
And you can squeeze emerald in buy purchasing a handbag in emerald. 🙂
See, problem solved!
Cheers,
Laura

Aww..those floral dresses are beautiful! Can’t wait to get me one. I agree regarding green..it makes me look yellow:)
January 30th, 2013 at 08:25
Me too Mitzie!
I really don’t need to walk around looking like I have liver failure!
So no emerald for me!
However, floral dresses…they are popping up big time in my wardrobe.
Must be a better gardener than I thought propagating the florals. 🙂

I love the floral dresses; so feminine! Thinking of summer right now is a bit of a stretch for me so this gives me something to look forward to!
January 30th, 2013 at 15:28
Sometimes in the midst of winter it is good to start thinking of summer.
However, I am not looking ahead to winter here, I’m going to hang on to summer for everything it’s worth!! 🙂
Which means there will probably be more florals entering my wardrobe.

Definitely black and white stripes. And, since I am too tall to go high, I am so glad low heels are back in style! Love the post.

And mixing prints will continue to be on trend.
So have fun with it! 🙂

The second floral dress is of course my favorite. I’m going to try the mixing florals stripes trend next. I accidentally found a vintage Vera floral sheet set at the thrift store and it’s headed for the cutting table to make a skirt which is going to be paired with a striped shirt. I can’t wait to try it!!
Have a great weekend!

Ohhh, I’m loving the sound of that!
Can’t wait to see it.
Florals are just gorgeous this year.

I would love to mix them all – various floral prints with stripes, leather & floral, low heals & floral. Emerald is a little dark for spring – maybe just for accessories.
February 3rd, 2013 at 18:12
I’m hearing a lot of people talking about mixing floral and stripes this year.
If it’s done well it will be a great look.
As we in the southern hemisphere will be heading into winter I expect to see lot’s of Emerald…but not on me! 🙂
Cheers,
Laura
