The Wrap Dress Obsession – Won’t You be Mine?

I have written several posts about my wrap dress obsession, here and here. I can’t pass one up when at a thrift shop. They just seem to be whispering to me…”won’t you be mine?” So naturally, I say, “sure”, “of course”, “YES, YES, Most definitely YES!” I mean really? Who could resist? Especially when February is An Affair to Remember month and the wrap dress is red and white?!

Valentines’ Wrapping: See how perfect this wrap dress is?! It’s a “go to” style for me. I always know it’s going to work with my figure and I find it nice enough to wear to work and be professional, but relaxed enough to wear for other things. The fact that this was a thrift shop find and $8 only adds to its appeal. As the dress is red and white, which perfectly matches this months theme, I just carried that colour combo out in the accessories. The difficult decision was the white shoes with the metallic toe or a pair of red kitten heels, red ankle boots, or red cowboy boots. The ankle boots and cowboy boots will be a nice option with tights when the weather cools.

Classic Valentine: The one issue I do have with wrap dresses, is that I pretty well always need to wear a camisole underneath because I am a little busty. And sometimes you just don’t want to pin every item you own closed at the chest! I do find if I have a basic black, white, brown and maybe something fun and bright, I can mix and match with all my dresses. This goes for wrap style shirts too. In playing up the red and white Valentine theme, I opted for my Kurt Geiger sling-back pumps with the metallic capped toe, the red Furla handbag from Spain, simple white watch and silver bangle, a strand of white pearls from Hong Kong that I triple wrapped and some silver swirl earrings.

I wore this look to work but could have worn it out to dinner with the Fashion Mister or while playing the lady who lunches and still been appropriate.

Which is part of what keeps feeding my wrap dress obsession, and why they all need to be mine!

Do you have a fashion obsession? A style of clothing that you just can’t live without? Or pass up in the store?
