L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival – Opening Night 2013

It’s nearly midnight and I’ve only been home for about 10 minutes…long enough to kick off the shoes and download photos from L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Opening Night runway for 2013. Tonight will be a little short. It’s been a very long day.

I took the 7:30 am train to Melbourne. For the real job. Then met with my dear friend Sarah about 4:00 so we could head over to Docklands to get a bit of food and enjoy a few drinks before heading to the show. You may remember Sarah from the series I did last year about “Remodeling Sarah”.

Remodeling Sarah??

Remodeling Sarah??

Remodeling Sarah: Funny thing…because I did the mini-series on helping Sarah remodel her wardrobe, she kind of became known as Remodeling Sarah. Back in November, she let me know she didn’t like that name and wanted a cool one. Because I talk about the Fashion Mister and The Fashion Sister From Another Mother, Sarah thought “Remodeling Sarah” wasn’t cool. However, she made the mistake of saying this while she and her husband were having drinks with me and the Fashion Mister.

Well my Fashion Mister has a quick, albeit evil, wit and he promptly said I could call her “Lady Wa Wa” since she was crying about her name! Needless to say I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Sarah however, wasn’t so fond.

I think we came up with a few other versions along that theme and even tried “Madame Fuddy Duds” but there was no pleasing Sarah.

So the other night, while watching “American Idol” (no, I’m not going to justify why we were watching it) Bon Jovi were on. And in a flash of inspiration, the Fashion Mister and I looked at each other and said, “That’s it, Sarah should be the Bon Jovi Fashionista!”

No prizes will be awarded for those who figure out why…but I would love to hear your comments!

Clearly Sarah took a better pic of me than I did of her! I was kind of stuck toting around two bags as I had been in the city all day on business, so needed one bag for all things work related…and a change of shoes, and the other bag for the usual stuff and the camera. Because I needed to balance a bit of professional and a bit of fashion show attendee, I opted for a fairly basic turquoise shirt under a nude colored suit jacket with a bit of vintage gold and turquoise jewelry. Then to give it some personality I wore my DIY bleached jeans and my insanely high turquoise wedges.

Yes, that's me knocking back a glass of bubbles!

Anyway, it was a great evening and I am looking forward to the rest of the week!

I really had fun hanging out with the Bon Jovi Sista…But I think I will just call her Sarah…because she really is trying and she is so close to becoming my Stylista Sista. That’s it Sarah, you’re halfway there!

Tomorrow I’ll share Street Style photos from before L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Opening Night 2013.

For now, I’m heading to bed!
