My Ode to Iris Apfel

As promised, today I am sharing my ode to Iris Apfel. I love her sense of style. How she embraces pattern and colour. But most of all, I love her commitment to an absolute overdose of jewelry! Because I have already confessed that I want to be her when I grow up it seems the perfect time to start practicing my look.

The Look: If I’m going for print and colour, then I’m going for my Desigual shirt/dress. I have gotten so much wear out of this piece since purchasing it while in Spain back in November. I have every intention of wearing it throughout the winter as well! However, the weather was still pleasant so I had on some 3/4 length cotton white pants and my orange Django & Juliette  wedges and it seemed a perfect start for an Iris Apfel inspired look.

The Accessories: It may look like I have on every accessory I own…but that would not be true! I’ve actually learned over the past couple of years that accessories can change a look as well as finish one so I have been collecting lots of different pieces. In fact, I have two drawers full of scarves, one is winter and one summer. Plus I have a drawer full of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, watches and other bits and pieces. All organized in little trays of course. Not to mention on top of the vanity there are a number of my favourite and most worn pieces. So even though it looks like I have piled everything on, I really only used items that went with the colours in the shirt.

I may have been able to wear a couple more bracelets but just because my wrists are thin, doesn’t mean my forearms are!

Well, what do you think of my ode to Iris Apfel? Too extreme? Did I miss the mark or do you think she would be proud of me?
