This month’s “How to” comes about because Mother’s Day weekend has become Heritage Weekend here in Ballarat and the Fashion Mister and I were off to attend a Jazz Night! So naturally, today is “How to Dress for a Great Gatsby Inspired Party”. We have another Great Gatsby inspired event to attend at the end of the month…opening night showing in a beautiful old art deco theater, luckily I have a whole other outfit to wear that night!
For dancing on a Saturday night to all our favourite 1920s jazz, this is the look I went with.
The Look: I’m not sure I could have been much more inspired by the 20s and The Great Gatsby! The dress is a burgundy brocade, 20s inspired piece I bought on eBay ages ago, I’ve had the silver brocade wrap and handbag since before I left the USA and the head scarf is an op shop find from about a month ago. When all brought together with a couple of strands of pearls, a drop necklace and some black art deco earrings, I think it turned out alright.
It’s really just the shoes that aren’t quite right but they were good for a night of dancing!
I’m looking forward to the Opening Night Party but this may be the best Great Gatsby look I have.
What do you think? Roaring 20s or boring 20s?
