Honey, Honey – My Way

To finish the mini look at all things inspired by honey, I will show you some “my way” photos of items in my wardrobe that work with this palette.

Just a reminder of our Honey, Honey Palette.

Spring 2012 - Honey Inspired

Honey Coloured Inspiration

In case you didn’t read it the first two or three hundred times…I love this palette. I find it warm, snuggly and soothing. It works really well with my colouring. and I have a fair bit of these types of colours in my wardrobe. So rather than torture you with them all, I’ll just share a few.

And before any of you ask, “Why aren’t you wearing any of these looks?”, it’s because the weather is grey, wet and gloomy today and the light just wasn’t good. There will be plenty of photos of me in the future so enjoy not seeing my mug this time.

The skirt and the top are vintage finds from my 90 Day Lust Have List Haul. I just changed up accessories to show that different looks can be achieved just with simple changes in the same palette.

The gold neck and wrist cuffs plus the gold sweater are all sweet as honey. Yep, you saw them in my Metallic Trend post.

Retro Floral - Honey Inspired

Retro Floral – Honey Inspired

This retro floral print shirt is one of the few floral pieces I own. In fact it is the first floral I have bought and worn in years. I bought it mostly because of the honey coloured background and vintage looking print. I love to wear it my plaid Ralph Lauren wool pants for a little print clashing.

Well, that’s not all but it’s probably enough to get the sense that I really do love the honey, honey palette and as I own so many items that work in this colour palette it’s easy for me to do honey inspiration my way!

Honey, Honey – Inspired Recipes

Honey, honey, oh how you inspire me!
There is something amazing about honey. When I was young I loved homemade honeycomb dipped in chocolate, in fact I still do! When I am ill I like a cup of tea with honey to sweeten and soothe. And when I can, I will choose any desert with honey even above a desert with chocolate!
Honey, Honey - Inspired Recipes

Honey, Honey what an inspiration!

One of my favourite and simple things to do for a desert is use pre-made vanilla ice-cream (be sure it’s nice and creamy), drizzle a little honey on top and then either shave or crush almonds to finish it off. Simple, divine and guaranteed to get lots of compliments when served to dinner guests.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsalted pistachio kernels (you can use blanched almonds if you prefer)
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
Method:

Step 1Preheat oven to 170Ā°C/150Ā°C fan-forced. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Finely chop 1/2 cup pistachios. Transfer to a bowl.

Step 2Sift flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda over chopped pistachios. Add sugar and remaining pistachios. Stir to combine. Add honey and 2 tablespoons cold water. Stir until mixture just starts to come together. Using your hands, knead until well combined.

Step 3Divide dough in half. Shape each half into an 18cm log. Press down slightly to flatten. Place on 1 baking tray. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden and firm. Remove from oven. Cool. Reduce oven temperature to 150Ā°C/130Ā°C fan-forced.

Step 4Using a serrated knife, cut logs into 1cm slices. Place slices, in a single layer, on 2 trays. Cook for 15 minutes or until lightly browned and firm. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Serve.
